Zeigler is a small Franklin County town about 20 miles southeast of Marion, reachable via I-57 to Exit 54, then Route 149 west. The former coal mining community of 1,300 sits in southern Illinois's rolling terrain. Most visitors arrive from St. Louis (90 minutes) or use Route 149 for regional trips. The restored 1920s Orpheum Theater downtown still shows weekend movies.
