Wynot is a farming community of about 200 people in northeastern Nebraska's Cedar County. Highway 84 runs through town, connecting east to Hartington and west toward Bloomfield. Most residents drive south to Highway 20 for longer trips or northeast to Sioux City, Iowa, about 45 miles away. The town's name comes from a Dakota Sioux word meaning "first-born son."
