Woodbranch is a small East Texas city of about 1,700 people, located 40 miles north of Houston in Montgomery County's Piney Woods. Most visitors arrive via I-45 north to Spring, then FM 1960 west, or through The Woodlands on FM 1488. The humid climate supports dense pine and hardwood forests throughout the area. The city operates its own volunteer fire department from a station that also serves as a community meeting hall.
