Winton is a tiny community of 124 people in northeastern Minnesota's Superior National Forest, serving as a gateway to the Boundary Waters wilderness. Located along County Road 4, it's accessible via Highway 169 from Duluth through Virginia, then Highway 1 to the County Road 4 junction. The historic 1922 red brick schoolhouse still anchors the community as its cultural center.
