Winsted is a farming town of 2,200 people in central Minnesota, about 50 miles west of Minneapolis via Highway 12. The main north-south route is Highway 22, which connects to Hutchinson and the lakes region. Most traffic is local commuters and through travelers heading to western Minnesota's recreation areas. The restored 1896 opera house downtown still hosts live theater and concerts.
