Wink is a small oil town in West Texas, about 60 miles northwest of Odessa via US 302. State Highway 115 runs through town connecting to Kermit and the broader Permian Basin region. The flat desert landscape is dotted with oil equipment, and Winkler County Airport serves the area. The town got its name because the original postmaster had to "wink" at postal regulations to keep mail service running.
