Winchester is a small Oklahoma town of about 630 people, located 15 miles southwest of Okmulgee via Highway 56. Most visitors arrive from Tulsa using US-75 south to Okmulgee, then Highway 56 west through rolling farmland. The area features scattered oil derricks from the early 1900s petroleum boom.
