Winchester is a small farming town in west-central Illinois, about 20 miles southwest of Jacksonville via Route 106. The main access is IL-106 connecting to US-67, with longer routes from Springfield (I-72 to IL-106, 45 miles) or St. Louis (I-270 to US-67 north, 90 miles). The town of 1,500 serves as Scott County seat, centered around its impressive 1897 red brick courthouse.
