Winchester is a small farming town of 300 people in north-central Idaho's Lewis County, sitting along the Clearwater River valley where wheat fields meet forested hills. US Highway 95 runs through town, connecting to Lewiston 25 miles north (nearest airport) and Grangeville 30 miles south. The area serves local agricultural traffic and offers access to Idaho's backcountry for hunting and fishing. Winchester Lake State Park features a historic 103-acre lake originally built as a mill pond in the early 1900s.
