Wilmot is a farming town of 381 people in northeastern South Dakota, 15 miles from the Minnesota border on Highway 12. It's about 30 miles northwest of Watertown via Highway 12, or roughly 90 minutes from Sioux Falls via I-29 north and Highway 12 west. The town sits in classic prairie country with corn and soybean fields. Its towering grain elevator serves as a landmark visible for miles across the flat landscape.
