Wilburton is a college town of 2,600 in southeastern Oklahoma's forested hills, home to Eastern Oklahoma State College. Highway 2 runs through downtown, connecting north to McAlester (35 miles) and south toward Arkansas, while Highway 63 links to Interstate 40 at Sallisaw. The historic Gentry Hall on campus, built in 1909, remains one of eastern Oklahoma's oldest continuously operating educational buildings.
