Wickes is a small Arkansas town of about 700 people in the Ouachita Mountain foothills, 15 miles north of Oklahoma. Highway 8 runs east-west through town, connecting to Mena and US 71 for longer trips. It's a gateway to the Cossatot River State Park-Natural Area, known for some of Arkansas's best whitewater kayaking rapids.
