Whittemore is a farming community of 569 people in north-central Iowa, about 15 miles southeast of Algona via Highway 169. The town sits in classic Iowa corn and soybean country, with County Road A42 providing the main east-west connection. Most visitors use these state and county highways, while Algona Municipal Airport lies 15 miles northwest. The original 1899 railroad depot still stands as the community center.
