Whitewood is a small Black Hills town along Interstate 90, about 12 miles from Sturgis and 45 minutes from Rapid City. Most visitors take Exit 17 off I-90, with Highway 14 connecting to Deadwood and other area attractions. The town serves as a convenient stopping point for cross-country travelers and a base for exploring the northern Black Hills. Its restored 1899 railroad depot now houses a museum showcasing the area's gold rush history.
