Whitewater is a college town in southeastern Wisconsin, home to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Highway 12 runs east-west through the city, connecting to Madison and Lake Geneva, while Highway 89 provides north-south access to I-94 near Elkhorn. The historic red brick opera house from 1890 still hosts live performances downtown.
