Whiteface is a tiny farming town of 361 people in Cochran County, about 40 miles southwest of Lubbock. Take US 385 south from Levelland (25 miles) or US 62 west from Lubbock to US 385 south through Morton. The town sits on the flat High Plains among cotton fields and gets its name from the white caliche soil that gives the surrounding countryside its distinctive pale, chalky appearance.
