White Cloud is a tiny Kansas community of 117 people in Doniphan County, near the Missouri River. Take US-36 from St. Joseph (8 miles east) or Highway 7 north from Atchison to reach it. The town operates one of the last cable ferries over the Missouri River, using an overhead cable system that's been running for over a century.
