Whitakers is a small Nash County town of under 500 people in eastern North Carolina's farm country. Located on US Highway 301 between Rocky Mount and the Virginia line, it's accessible via Exit 145 from I-95 near Battleboro. The town developed around the railroad in the 1800s and retains its rural character. Its preserved 1920s Atlantic Coast Line depot still stands beside the active CSX freight line.
