Wheeler is a small Texas Panhandle town about 100 miles east of Amarillo on US Highway 83. The county seat sits in rolling plains country where wheat fields meet the Canadian River valley. Most visitors arrive via US 83 from Shamrock or take Highway 152 from I-40 near the Oklahoma border. The 1925 courthouse with its brick clock tower anchors the town square.
