Wheaton is a small farming community in southwest Missouri's Barry County with about 427 residents. Highway 37 runs north-south through town, connecting to Cassville 12 miles south and Mount Vernon to the north. Route 86 provides east-west access. Most longer trips route through Cassville to reach US 60, which connects to Springfield (45 miles) or Joplin (50 miles). The town sits near the headwaters of Buffalo Creek in the rolling Ozarks countryside.
