Wheatfields is a small desert community of 329 people in east-central Arizona's Gila County, accessible via State Route 70 about 30 miles northeast of Globe. Most visitors arrive by driving US 60 east from Phoenix to Globe, then taking SR 70 north. The town sits in high desert country within traditional San Carlos Apache territory, with the tribal airport located just northeast of the community.
