Westby is a small Norwegian-heritage city in southwestern Wisconsin's scenic Coulee Region, about 25 miles from La Crosse via Highway 14. The town sits among rolling hills and valleys, with Highway 27 providing north-south access through Amish farmland. Most visitors arrive via La Crosse and Interstate 90 for longer trips, while local traffic uses the state highways for daily commutes. Westby hosts one of the Midwest's largest Norwegian festivals each May during Syttende Mai celebrations.
