Wells is a tiny East Texas town of under 500 people in Cherokee County's pine country. Highway 84 runs right through it, connecting west to Palestine and east toward Marshall. Most visitors come for short trips to nearby Rusk or longer drives to Tyler. The town calls itself the "Syrup Capital of East Texas" and hosts an annual festival celebrating its historic ribbon cane syrup industry.
