Waynesville is a mountain town of about 10,500 people in western North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains. Take I-40 west from Asheville to Exit 27, then US 19/23 south to US 276 into downtown. The town sits in a natural mountain bowl with four-season weather and serves as a gateway to the Great Smoky Mountains. Main Street features antique shops in early 1900s buildings, including the three-story brick Shelton House from 1925.
