Waynesboro is a small county seat in southeastern Mississippi where US 84 meets Highway 145. Most visitors come via US 84 from Laurel (35 miles northwest) or continue east toward Alabama. The timber industry drives the local economy in this Pine Belt community along the Chickasawhay River. The 1906 Wayne County Courthouse downtown features a working clock tower that's been marking time for over a century.
