Waxhaw is a small town in Union County, about 20 miles southeast of Charlotte via US-521 south. The town straddles the North Carolina-South Carolina border and serves as a convenient stop between Charlotte and points south. Most visitors arrive via US-521 from Charlotte or NC-16 from the west through Matthews. The historic downtown centers around a restored 1912 railroad depot.
