Wausau is a small Florida Panhandle community of 320 people in Washington County, about 15 miles northeast of Chipley via State Road 77. Take I-10 to Exit 120, then follow SR 77 north through Chipley to reach this rural town surrounded by pine forests and farmland. The area experiences typical northwest Florida weather with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Wausau developed as a historic turpentine and timber town along the Choctawhatchee River corridor.
