Watseka is the county seat of rural Iroquois County in east-central Illinois, about 90 miles south of Chicago. US Route 24 runs right through downtown, connecting to I-57 at Gilman to the west. Most visitors take I-57 to Exit 283, then follow Route 24 east for 15 miles. The town sits in prime Illinois farmland along the Iroquois River. The 1866 Iroquois County Courthouse downtown is one of Illinois' oldest continuously operating courthouses.
