Watertown is a Jefferson County city about an hour west of Milwaukee via I-94, sitting along the Rock River in southeastern Wisconsin's farm country. Highway 26 runs north-south through downtown, while Highway 18 from Madison provides the main east-west connection. The city was home to America's first kindergarten, started by a German immigrant in 1856.
