Waterford is a Central Valley farm town of 9,200 people, located 15 miles east of Modesto on Highway 132. Most visitors arrive via Highway 99 to the 132 exit, with the drive from Modesto taking about 20 minutes. The town sits near almond orchards and dairy operations, with the Tuolumne River flowing along its southern border. Waterford's 1918 Carnegie library on Reinway Avenue is one of the few original Carnegie libraries still operating in California.
