Washington is a small Louisiana community of 564 people in St. Landry Parish, about 25 miles northwest of Lafayette via I-49 and Highway 182. The town sits along an old Atchafalaya River channel, surrounded by farmland that was once cypress swamp, and features a small regional airport just outside town.
