Washington is a tiny Arkansas community of about 100 people along Highway 4, twelve miles northeast of Hope. Reach it via I-30 to Hope, then Highway 4 northeast, or from Texarkana via Highway 29 north. The town sits in rolling hills between the Ouachitas and Gulf Coastal Plain. Historic Washington State Park preserves the original territorial capital with restored 19th-century buildings and a working blacksmith shop.
