Washburn is a small Illinois town of about 950 people, located 20 miles northeast of Peoria via Route 116. The town sits along the Mackinaw River in farm country, with easy access to I-39 twelve miles east. Most visitors arrive on Route 116 from Peoria or connect through Route 89 for north-south travel. The town's historic covered bridge over the Mackinaw River is one of the few authentic covered bridges left in Illinois.
