Wasco is a small county seat town in north-central Oregon, accessible via US Highway 97 about 15 miles south of The Dalles. The drive from Portland takes 90 minutes through wheat country and high desert terrain. Located at the junction of US 97 and Highway 206, it serves as a gateway to eastern Oregon's recreational areas. The town's standout feature is its 1899 Sherman County Courthouse, which continues to serve Oregon's least populous county.
