Wardner is a small mining town in northern Idaho's Silver Valley, reached via Interstate 90 about 50 miles east of Coeur d'Alene. The community sits in a narrow mountain valley along the Coeur d'Alene River, serving as a residential base for regional mining workers. Its most striking landmark is the massive white Bunker Hill Mine tailings pile that towers over the town's southern edge.
