Wardell is a small farming community in Missouri's Bootheel, near the Arkansas border. Reach it via State Route 164, about 12 miles southwest of Kennett where the nearest airport sits. The flat cotton and soybean country experiences typical Mississippi River valley weather with hot summers and mild winters. The town was named for a railroad official, though the tracks are gone now, leaving only a visible roadbed cutting through the fields.
