Wapanucka is a small town of 432 people in Johnston County, about 12 miles southeast of Atoka via Highway 3. The main routes include Highway 3 east-west and connections to US 69 for longer trips toward Durant and Dallas-Fort Worth. The name comes from a Choctaw word meaning "east wind."
