Wanette is a farming town of 274 people in Pottawatomie County, about 35 miles southeast of Oklahoma City. Take I-40 east to Highway 177 south, then Highway 9 east to reach it. The route passes through typical Oklahoma prairie with wheat fields and pastures. The town's historic grain elevator towers over the landscape and can be seen from miles away.
