Waltonville is a tiny Jefferson County community of about 300 people in southern Illinois farm country. Take I-64 to Exit 95, then follow local roads south to reach town via Route 15. Most traffic comes from Mount Vernon (15 miles northeast) or Centralia (25 miles northwest), with longer trips connecting through I-64 to St. Louis or Evansville. The area still has active oil wells from southern Illinois's petroleum boom.
