Walnut is a small farming town of 699 people in north Mississippi's Tippah County, about 15 miles from Corinth near the Tennessee line. Highway 72 runs east-west through town toward Corinth and Alabama, while Highway 15 heads south to Ripley and US 78. The historic railroad depot from the early 1900s still stands as a reminder of when the Illinois Central made this a shipping hub for local cotton and timber.
