Walnut is a small Kansas town of about 240 people located along US Highway 69 in Crawford County, roughly 15 miles south of Pittsburg. The main route through town follows this historic north-south corridor connecting Kansas City to Oklahoma. The abandoned Kansas City Southern Railway right-of-way still runs through the center of town, marking its transportation history.
