Walnut is a small farming town in southwest Iowa, about 60 miles west of Des Moines via I-80 and Highway 83. The community of 1,300 sits in rolling prairie country near the Nebraska border. Most visitors take Exit 40 from I-80 and drive north on Highway 83 for 8 miles. The town has gained fame for hosting RAGBRAI, Iowa's legendary bicycle ride across the state, multiple times.
