Walnut Hill is a tiny farming community in south-central Illinois with about 100 residents, located 10 miles northeast of Centralia via county roads off State Route 161. Visitors typically reach the area from Interstate 64, with Centralia Municipal Airport 10 miles southwest providing the nearest aviation access. The community got its name from a hill once covered in native black walnut trees.
