Wallis is a small Texas town about 50 miles west of Houston via US 290, sitting along the Brazos River in Austin County. The main route from Houston takes about an hour through Cypress and Hempstead, while Highway 36 provides north-south access to Rosenberg and other Brazos Valley communities. This is country music legend George Strait's hometown, where the "King of Country" grew up on a cattle ranch before becoming one of the best-selling music artists ever.
