Wallace is a small farming town in southwestern Nebraska, about 15 miles northeast of North Platte via Highway 97 from Interstate 80. Most visitors drive up from I-80 through agricultural land, while locals make the 20-minute trip to North Platte for services. The town sits in the South Platte River valley amid rolling prairie, experiencing hot summers and cold winters typical of the Great Plains. The original 1920s grain elevator still dominates the skyline, visible for miles across the flat countryside.
