Wallace is a tiny farming town of 48 people in far western Kansas, just 15 miles from Colorado on US Highway 40. It's the county seat despite its size and sits about 180 miles east of Denver. The main route is US-40, connecting to Sharon Springs eastbound and Colorado westbound, with I-70 running 40 miles south for faster cross-country travel. Wallace County holds one of Kansas's largest ancient fish fossils from when an inland sea covered the plains.
