Waldo is a small Alabama town of 239 people in Talladega County, about 45 miles east of Birmingham via US Highway 78. The main routes connect to Birmingham and Anniston for work commutes, with State Route 21 providing north-south access. The area still shows traces of old iron ore mining roads that once fed Birmingham's steel mills.
