Wakefield is a farming town of 1,300 people in northeastern Nebraska, about 20 miles from Sioux City via Highway 20 west to Highway 35 south. The town sits on rolling prairie in Dixon County and serves the surrounding agricultural area with grain elevators and farm services. Its historic Main Street still features original brick buildings from the early 1900s railroad era.
