Wakefield is a small farming town in north-central Kansas near Milford Lake, with about 1,000 residents. US Highway 24 runs directly through town, connecting east to Manhattan and Topeka, and west toward Beloit. State Highway 82 provides north-south access to Clay Center and beyond. The town's massive grain elevator dominates the skyline and can hold over 2 million bushels.
