Wainwright is an isolated Arctic community of 700 people on Alaska's north coast, accessible only by air through Wainwright Airport or seasonal barge service. No roads connect it to anywhere else in Alaska. The town experiences continuous daylight from mid-May through early August, when the midnight sun circles the horizon without setting for over two months.
